Accountability: A Lost Art in the Left's Playbook

Updated: May 18

Elon Musk's recent email demanding federal employees justify their work has sparked outrage among government workers. Some of these individuals, who have been comfortably working from home since COVID-19, are now expected to report on their weekly contributions. Shocking, right? Accountability in the workplace—what a novel concept.

Let’s not forget the same crowd who now protests Musk’s request were, not long ago, the loudest advocates for "following the science" and enforcing unprecedented measures during the pandemic. They championed lockdowns, mask mandates, and remote work, all in the name of "stopping the spread." Yet, here we are, with COVID-19 seemingly evaporated from the narrative, and those same measures abandoned. Funny how that works.

Meanwhile, millions of hardworking Americans—myself included—lost their jobs during the pandemic. Businesses shuttered, livelihoods destroyed, and all for a cause that now feels like a distant memory. But when Musk asks government employees to simply account for their work, the left cries foul. Hypocrisy much?

Trump’s presidency aimed to streamline government and make it more efficient—a goal that resonates deeply today. The bloated bureaucracy Musk is now challenging is precisely what Trump sought to dismantle. Accountability isn’t an attack; it’s a necessity. If you’re collecting taxpayer dollars, the least you can do is explain what you’re doing to earn them.

The left’s outrage over Musk’s email is a perfect example of their double standards. They demand compliance from the public but balk at the idea of being held to the same standard. It's time to bring back accountability and remind these government workers that they serve the people—not the other way around.
